In a PB notable Anon found an NCSWIC PDF document that discusses border states being forced to pay a lot of money to get frequency licenses within 75 miles of the Canadian boarder.
“Often times, license requests submitted to Canada by American agencies are rejected with no reason, forcing the agency to repeatedly re-submit modified applications, which prove costly and time consuming.”
“For example, it took one agency 12 applications and $3,000 to secure an Emergency Management frequency.”
Anon wonders how closely state entities collaborate with their interoperability partners. What, besides US Taxpayer money, do they share with Canada and others?
Project 25 is mentioned in this NCSWIC May 4, 2017 Meeting Summary PDF. Anon is not exactly sure what Project 25 is, other than it has something to do with communication standards and a process involved in interoperability. Thoughts are that its about collusion.

Then came the question, what is Project 25?
Searched Project 25 and found the following.

Project 25 Resources and Information
“Formed in 1990 in accordance with an agreement between the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO), the National Association of State Technology Directors (NASTD), and agencies of the U.S. federal government, Project 25 (P25) is a unique user-driven process that works with equipment manufacturers to establish current and emerging wireless land mobile radio (LMR) communications standards that meet the requirements of the public safety community. Project 25 is
the only known user-driven emergency communications standards process in the U.S.
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate leads the congressionally legislated P25 Compliance Assessment Program and supports SAFECOM recommendations related to emergency communication standards development.”

If this process is a US project why is it now international? Are taxpayers footing the bill for more foreign agendas?

About APCO International
“APCO International is the world’s oldest and largest organization of public safety communications professionals and supports the largest U.S. membership base of any public safety association.
It serves the needs of public safety communications practitioners worldwide
– and the welfare of the general public as a whole
– by providing complete expertise, professional development, technical assistance, advocacy and outreach. “
https://www.apcointl.org/about-apco/
Did that say,
“…the only known user-driven emergency communications standards process in the U.S” provides “complete expertise, professional development, technical assistance, advocacy and outreach” world wide? Is that wise?
