Report: Prosecutor Delayed Advancing Hunter Biden Probe Until After Election

The federal prosecutor investigating Hunter Biden’s potential tax law violations and sketchy business dealings overseas last summer {made a decision to} keep the public {at night} {concerning the} probe until {following the} 2020 presidential election {in order to avoid} impacting the race’s outcome, Politico revealed Friday.

{Based on the} news outlet, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) officials led by David Weiss, the U.S. attorney in the Biden family’s home state of Delaware, delayed the Hunter probe last summer, postponing their {quest for} search warrants and issuing grand jury subpoenas.

Politico explained:

[Weiss] {made a decision to} delay taking any actions {which were} {more likely to} make the existence of the Hunter Biden probe public. Concerns about affecting the presidential election loomed large when Weiss entertained arguments about advancing the probe, {based on the} person {mixed up in} discussions. {No real matter what} he did, {your choice} was sure {ahead} under scrutiny for signs of politicization.

Weiss ultimately sided with DOJ colleagues who convinced him {it had been} best to err {privately} of caution and wait to advance the probe until {following the} presidential race.

“They advised [Weiss] {in order to avoid} taking any actions {which could} alert {the general public} to the existence of the case {in the center of} a presidential election,” Politico  noted.

The U.S. attorney ignored other officials {mixed up in} case who {wished to} move forward with the investigation last summer despite the presidential race.

Politico conceded that advancing the Hunter probe amid the presidential election {could have} benefitted former President Donald Trump’s campaign, noting:

Weiss’s decision {in order to avoid} revealing the investigation in {an extremely} charged political atmosphere – a move {that may} have boosted Donald Trump’s campaign, even at {the expense of} politicizing the probe – was {in keeping with} his sober-minded {method of} his job, said people {acquainted with} Weiss’s career. But so too, they said, {{may be the} {proven fact that} the probe continues,|{may be the} known {proven fact that} the probe continues,} {with most expecting that Weiss {won’t} drop the case until {creating a} full assessment of Hunter Biden’s culpability.|with most expecting that Weiss {won’t} drop {the entire} case until {creating a} full assessment of Hunter Biden’s culpability.}

Weiss continues to serve as Delaware’s U.S. attorney under Biden, a sensitive DOJ position {that may|which will} allow him {to choose} {the way to handle} the probe {in to the} president’s son.

Former President Donald Trump appointed Weiss to the U.S. attorney position in 2017 at the recommendation of Delaware’s two Democrat senators.

By 2018, the attorney’s office began investigating Hunter in {reaction to} various leads, including some {associated with} his business dealings with business associates from China.

Initially, investigators sought to {follow} the president’s son over  money laundering  and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

However, {the criminal investigation evolved into examining possible tax law Hunter’s and violations shady business transactions overseas,}  Politico  learned from an unnamed source.

After Joe secured his election victory, Hunter announced on December 9 {he} was under a federal investigation for tax issues, insisting {he could be} innocent.

In October 2020, the  {NY} Post  first  reported  the contents of the so-called “ laptop from hell ” {that has been} confiscated by the  FBI , {which covered Hunter’s business dealings with Ukraine and China.}

{Based on the} newspaper, {one email Joe&nbsp suggested;} lied  about {being unsure of} of his son’s shady business dealings abroad. Tony Bobulinski, Hunter’s former business partner, made similar accusations after the  Post ‘s exposé.

Some Republicans have  {needed}  the appointment of {a particular} prosecutor {to safeguard} Weiss’s investigation from the Biden administration influence.
